This place is great!!! The owners are fun and friendly and you can pay $5 for wine tasting and hang out it is fun. You get your $5 put towards your purchase if you by a bottle so worth it.
I love Vino 100 in Tracy. Even if the wine selection was poor (and it isn't) I would keep comng back because of the atmosphere and the owners (including their adorable dog Sadie). My husband and I look forward to each visit, because it is just FUN to visit. We joined the wine club immediately and it is a great deal. Don't miss out on their wine club nights. I love all of the other goodies they sell - they have great stuff for "winos" like me. This is a great place to go do your Holiday shopping if you know other "winos". I just can't say enough about Vino 100. Click your heals, because Toto we aren't in Tracy anymore.
I know this is a franchise wine shop and true "winos" would dismiss it and head for an independent, but I think any wine connoisseur would have a hard time arguing with the price/value of the wines on the shelf in this store. There is a great selection of white wine from Australia, New Zealand and France for around 15 dollars. It definitely beats anything you can pick up from California at the supermarket around that price.
The red wine selection is also very good, but I think they are still feeling out some of the options to see what sells. The nice thing is that they do daily tastings so it's pretty easy to find something that you like even if you aren't familiar with the wine region. Hey it may be no K&L, but then again I don't end up dropping $300 bucks every time I visit Vino 100 like I do at K&L, so that's probably a good thing.
We are serious wine lovers....not wine snobs. I can tell you what I like and what I don't like, that is about it. I don't get fancy or technical when describing my wine. We strolled into Vino 100 on a Saturday and were greeted by the owners, Chris and Janet, who were extremely friendly, as was their little dog. (Being dog lovers, this really impressed us!) It is more than a wine shop. They also offer daily tastings. We decided to join their wine club after about two minutes in the place. The selection is great and the people are wonderful. We have been in many times since and we always end up with at least one new bottle of wine to try (usually more like three to four bottles!). Chris gives great recommendations, we have never been disappointed. We really enjoy our local wines. Being members of several Livermore wine clubs, we like to support the local wine makers. Vino 100 carries a nice selection of local wines (mainly Lodi area) as well wines from around the world that we may not have ever tried. It's also nice that they have on file what you have purchased in the past so that I can go in and say, what is that $10 bottle of pinot grigio I bought last time and they can pull it up. Stop in and have a taste....I bet you walk away with a bottle or two!
